Hover Color Privacy Policy
Hover Color is a free Chrome extension from The Color Palette Studio. It shows a color swatch when you hover a hex or rgb() code on a webpage.

What Hover Color does
When you move the cursor over a color code, Hover Color reads the text at that point in the page, locally, in your browser. If the text looks like a hex or RGB value, it draws a small preview card next to the cursor.
What Hover Color stores
Hover Color uses Chrome sync storage for two settings only:
- On / off (whether hover previews are enabled)
- Preview theme (light or dark)
Those settings stay in your Chrome profile. If you are signed into Chrome and sync is on, Chrome may sync them across your devices. Hover Color does not store page content, color codes you hovered, browsing history, or personal information.
What Hover Color does not do
- It does not record your screen
- It does not use Accessibility or desktop capture APIs
- It does not upload the page, screenshots, or color codes anywhere
- It does not send analytics, ads, or tracking pixels
- It does not collect your name, email, or payment information
- It does not require an account
Hover Color is free. There is no checkout and no license key.
Permissions
- storage — to remember on/off and theme
- Host access (all sites) — so the hover preview can run on the pages where color codes appear (Gmail, Slack, docs, and the rest of Chrome). The script only inspects text under the cursor to find a color code. It does not transmit that text.
