Welcome to ‘Brand in a Box': a weekly drop where I create a fictional brand & give you….
-
custom color palette & font pairings
-
my reasons behind those choices
-
a website mockup so you can see HOW those elements come together (your most-requested feature!)
This week's brand is 'Twilight Apothecary': a mystical, moody apothecary that sells artisan soaps and herbal remedies. I know I say this every week, but this brand was so much FUN to bring to life.
I leaned into more natural, herb-based, semi-gothic vibes for this brand. The color palette couldn't be simpler (it's only 3 colors!) and the fonts lean into the 'typewriter' vibe that I was craving. I can totally picture a line of candle/soap labels for this brand.
But the graphics are reallllllly what bring this brand to life. I found a lovely pack of herb + apothecary illustrations (SVG's, so I can change the colors!) that worked perfectly to bring the gothic, herbal vibes.
These fonts & colors are perfect for:
- brands that prioritize natural remedies, nostalgia, and the mind/body connection
- gothic/artisanal brands
- brands that want to feel 'crunchy' and natural
The Fonts:
I had a font in my library called 'Apothecary Serif' and it turned out to be a PERFECT match for this project. It feels handwritten, yet artisinal. It reminds me a bit of Taylor Swift's Folklore era- which was exactly the vibe I wanted.
Fonts:
- heading font: Apothecary Serif
- body font: Courier Prime (free google font!)
The Colors:
Hold on to your hats because this is a three color palette. I only used 3 colors: a light neutral (parchment), a dark neutral (midnight), and a bold(ish) color (herbs). IMO- this reduced palette carries its weight and lets the fonts & graphics shine.
The Graphics:
I found this pack of apothecary herbs/tools and instantly knew it was the perfect addition to this project. I also love how the handwritten feel matches the heading font- making everything come together beautifully.
